ACCURATE PERISTALTIC PUMP

A method and device are provided for infusing a fluid (27) into a patient via a tubing (26). A peristaltic pumping apparatus (10) is provided which applies a pumping action to the tubing (26). A linear variable differential transformer (54) measures the diameter of the tubing (26) subject to the pumping action. The diameter of the tubing (26) is measured at various times and changes in the diameter of the tubing (26) are utilized to adjust the pumping action on the tubing (26).
