Bitumen-polymer impermeable membrane - formed by mixt. phase inversion, shaping and setting

Impermeable membrane is formed by controlled mixing of established amts.of bitumen and synthetic polymer at 170-190 deg.C. so that there is homogenisation and phase inversion so that polymer becomes the dispersed phase. The bitumen distills at 180/200 to 80/100; has a softening point of 95-52 deg.C.; penetration value at 25 deg.C. of 80-100; viscosity of 100-140 cps as measured by rotary viscometer at 150 deg.C. and 128 revs. The polymer used is either a lactic polypropylene or styrene-butadiene styrene copolymer. USE/ADVANTAGE - The material has good elasticity and flexibility in the cold stage. It can be used for the same applications as unmodified bitumen.
