PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of density irregularities to improve an image quality by providing a non-volatile memory element prestoring data representing characteristics intrinsic to an ink delivery part of a head or data for correcting said characteristics. CONSTITUTION:On a printed board 1 containing heating elements and a drive control part in an ink jet recording head, an EEPROM 4 for recording information of density irregularities intrinsic for every recording head is mounted. The density irregularities for every head are measured when the head is produced. Based on the measured data, for every delivery port or group of some delivery ports, data of density irregularities corresponding to the delivery port or delivery port group or data for correcting the density irregularities are recorded on the EEPROM 4, for example, at the production of the head. In this manner, when the recording head is loaded on a main body device, the main body device reads information related to the density irregularities from the recording head and on the basis of this information conducts a predetermined control for improving the density irregularities to ensure a good image quality. |
