An upper inlet in a housing delivers mains water into a housing extension centrally holding an elongated metal sieve body, from whose annular surrounding space the water passes through to sieve wall to rise towards an upper outlet for filtered water, opposite the original inlet. Inside a retaining spigot, to which the sieve body is clipped within the housing, is a shaft to whose lower end a releasably affixed an anode rod (9) extending towards the sieve base.
