摘要 PURPOSE: To make it possible to obtain foil or anisotropic layer which may be easily produced at desired accuracy by forming a layer of an optically anisotropic material of a synthetic resin compsn. having a polymer network which has spiral arrangements. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal cell 10 has a twisted nematic liquid crystal layer 11 between two electrode substrates 12 and 13 and is arranged between two polarizers 14, 15. A double refractive film 16 is arranged between the polarizers 14, 15 exactly like the liquid crystal cell 10. The cell 10 may be directly provided with this double refractive layer 16 by providing, for example, the outer side of the cell 10 with a rubbed polyimide layer and depositing a curable synthetic resin compsn. having a liquid crystal monomer or oligomer having >=2 pieces of acrylate ester groups. The orientation is obtd. by an additive glass plate and this glass plate is provided with the rubbed polyimide layer. The glass plate is removed after polymn. of the curable synthetic resin compsn. As a result, the foil or anisotropic layer which may be produced at the desired accuracy is easily obtd.
