Process for the biopurification of gaseous effluents laden with pollutants. The aim of the invention is to provide a process which is inexpensive, simple to use, and not requiring any complex apparatus in order to permit a purification of an excellent efficiency, in particular for gaseous effluents very heavily laden with inconstant contents. This objective is obtained with the aid of a process comprising a stage in which the gaseous effluents pass through the biomass bound on a support (20), characterised in that the support (20) is consumable during the reaction. The support may be placed in a packed column (1) and may advantageously consist of marl. The process applies more particularly to the purification of sulphur-containing pollutants. <IMAGE>
