This method is used in purification technology. It provides for the highly efficient removal of manganese using a simplified process diagram. This method is carried out as follows: oxygenated water containing an amount of potassium permanganate double that of the manganese in the raw water is infiltrated at intervals into the water-yielding stratum during infiltration cycles 1-3. The infiltration continues for 15-24 hours and is then followed by pumping. The water is discharged for 2-5 minutes at the beginning of each pumping session and is thereafter fed to the water main.
