The present invention relates to a method and a device for vibrating a lumbar support for the relaxation of the human body. The vibration device comprises a monobloc electric motor (1) fixed directly on the said support (2) and enclosed in the said casing (6), which motor comprises, on its output shaft (3), parallel to the said support, weights (4) which are eccentric with respect to the axle, and is powered with electric current by way of a time-delayed variator of any known type, making it possible to vary the speed of rotation of the said motor in order to obtain a frequency of vibration of the support of between 0 and 70 Hz, and the said lumbar support thus vibrated supports only a part of the body. <IMAGE>
