A composition for intratumoral injection comprising a suspension in an aqueous medium of particles of an atoxic dyeing substance which is insoluble in the aqueous medium, characterized in that at least 50 % of the population of particles have a size within one of the following ranges: 1.0 to 2.1 mu m and 2.1 to 6.8 mu m, virtually no particles being larger than 10.8 mu m. This composition can be used for the pre-chemotherapeutic and preoperative labelling of tumours and for the treatment of tumours using absorptive energy, especially in laser therapy and heat therapy.
