The invention concerns dilation joints in a bridge, and in particular expansion joints or similar bridge structures, comprising the joint's structural parts 1, 2 which are located between the bridge planes and which are secured by bolts 8, 8 in parts of reinforced concrete B1, B2. Especially during winter, dilation systems experience complications caused by traffic, changes in the weather, road grit, etc., and taking the form of corrosion, especially in the concrete structure of the joint. These complications are eliminated by the invention by virtue of the fact that, in the part 2 which has been anchored in the foundation part B2 of the joint, a cover plate 3 has been welded securely onto the underside of the dilation joint 10, which cover plate 3 extends to the underside of the other foundation part 1 connected to the unanchored concrete part B2. When the dilation joint 10 shrinks upon temperature changes, the inclined front edge of the cover plate 3 scrapes off ice which has formed on the underside of the foundation part 1, and ice and snow which have melted drop in the form of melt water from the drop edge 4 in the lower edge of the plate 3 down into the water channel 6 arranged under the plate. Water which penetrates through the asphalt A is prevented from reaching the concrete by the fact that a plate, for example of lead 7, has been fitted between the concrete B1, B2 and the asphalt A. <IMAGE>
