This device comprising: - an electronic circuit (11), - a keyboard (10) connected to the said electronic circuit (11), and intended to allow data inputting; - an acoustic transducer (13) also connected to the electronic circuit (11), and intended to send out the signals, in audio form, generated by the said electronic circuit, characterised in that the electronic circuit (11) comprises: - modulation means (15) - a memory (14) intended for holding an internal code, specific to each device; - a microprocessor (16), connected to the memory (14), to the modulation means (15) and to the keyboard (10), on the one hand, intended to perform calculation from: &cirf& a confidential code, &cirf& the internal code held in the memory (14), &cirf& a random variable sent by the server centre to which access is desired, and, on the other hand, able to generate a signal corresponding to this calculation, the said signal then being modulated by the modulation means, converted into an audio signal by the acoustic transducer (13), then finally transmitted to the server centre by use of the switched telephone network. <IMAGE>
