A PROCESS FOR THE EXPRESSION OF FOREIGN GENES IN YEASTS

The invention relates to the optimisation of the expression of foreign genes, in particular recombinant factor XIIIa (rFXIIIa) in yeasts. The optimisation was essentially carried out by using a hybrid GalUAS/CycI promoter, deleting the 5'-non-translated region and truncating the 3'-non-translated region of the FXIIIa cDNA, selecting specific yeast strains and a particularly suitable growth medium composed of whey or whey hydrolysate. It is possible in this way to obtain amounts >/= 100 mg/l FXIIIa in shake cultures, and >/= 500 mg/l on fermentation after scale-up.
