The pedal-driven wheeled vehicle of the invention has a frame (20) on which are mounted a steerable front wheel, a rear wheel (22) and, located between these two wheels, a lever (28). The lever (28) is linked to the rear wheel (22) by a flexible but inelastic tensioning element (36). A drive wheel (38) is associated with the rear wheel, linked to it by a freewheel mechanism. The tensioning element engages with the drive wheel. One end (42) of the tensioning element is elastically biased by a spring in such a way that the lever (28) is pulled up into its uppermost position. The other end (50) of the tensioning element (26) in rigidly mounted on the frame. Linked to the lever (28) is a carrier wheel (34) which engages with the tensioning element in the vicinity of this other end (50) and which is mounted to rotate freely about an axis running parallel to the axes of the drive-wheel and lever mountings. |
