The motion has three guide rollers. The middle roller is supported in a sliding bearing with motor control. This varies the nip between the roller set, to allow for cloth thickness variation. The slide bearing contains a universal connecting plate between the drive pinion and the flange of the middle roller. The middle take-up roller pref. has a slide mechanism which is contained within a frame. The outer shell is fixed and has side entry for a shaft which has a motor driven advance and withdrawal mechanism. This is connected to the bearings on which the separators, top and bottom, can glide, and the inner section moves similarly. ADVANTAGE - The slide mechanism between gear and roller is compact. The bearing system reduces excessive wear. |
