PURPOSE:To efficiently produce a stable red dyestuff having fixed quality by culturing cells of leaf or stem of halophyte belonging to the genus Limonium in agar or a liquid medium containing auxin and cytokinin under white light. CONSTITUTION:Tissue of leaf or stem of halophyte belonging to the genus Limonium such as annual weed, e.g. Limonium sinuatum or perennial weed such as Limonium latifolium is laid on an agar medium or a liquid medium such as MS medium or white medium containing auxin, e.g. indole-3-acetic acid or cytokinin, e.g. zeatin and sucrose or glucose as a carbon source. Then the tissue is cultured while irradiating white light of 2,000 lux using light such as a fluorescent tube. Callus is induced and repeatedly subjected to subculture to produce a red dyestuff. Then the objective red dyestuff is extracted with methanol from the cultured callus. Consequently, the red dyestuff can be stably produced. |
