Synergistic muscle relaxant combination for use in child birth - contg. rapid effect depolarising muscle relaxant, retard effect non-polarising muscle relaxant, local anaesthetic and magnesium salt

Muscle relaxant (I) consists of a synergistic combination of; (a) a depolarising muscle relaxant to the more rapid component; (b) a non-polarising muscle relaxant as the retard component; (c) a local anaesthetic and (d) a magnesium salt. USE/ADVANTAGE - (I) can be used in gynaecology as a birth aid. It is injected in the cervix and perineum in order to enlarge the cervix relax the perineum, alleviate pain nd accelerate birth. (I) can also be used in the treatment of spastic muscle diseases. Component (a) takes effect within 30-60 seconds. Its effect is prolonged by the action of component (b) after about 3-5 min. The effect of the local anaesthetic and the magnesium ions lasts 30-60min. The agent can be used in approx. 1.4 the dose required by general anaesthesia for muscle relaxation. The risk of rupture of vagina, cerviux or perineum, of foetal hypoxia and the necessity for caesarians are reduced.
