Ram-shaped baling press - can counteract overfilling and has triangular shaped projection on front face of ram to exert downward force on material

In a baling press the material tends to build up in front of the ram (6) as it moves forward and projects into the filling chamber (13). This excess is sheared off when the blade (17) at the front of the ram meets the fixed blade (18) at the end of the filling chamber. With sheet material such as newspaper the amount to be sheared may become excessive so that the ram comes to a halt. The front face of the ram has triangular shaped projections (22) which cause a counteracting downwards force to be exerted which limits the build up of material to an amount which can easily be sheared. USE/ADVANTAGE - Simple design. Avoids need for tamping. Better press utilisation.
