Individual stacks of labels (14) are parted from stacked strip to the right of the finished contour stamping machine and are fed to the stamping station at the lower level of feed table (11). The edges of the stack are straightened and aligned against an adjustable stop plate (17). The contouring stamp (22) is fixed in a holder (39) above the platten (21) supporting the label stack, and has a plunger (50,18) passing through it and pressing on the top of the stack. A bottom plunger (25) passes through the centre of platten (21), so that the stack is compressed between the two plungers. To contour the labels, the platten together with the plungers is raised and the compressed stack is pushed through the contouring stamp (22). The plungers are released and the stack moved on for wrapping at the level of table (24). USE/ADVANTAGE - Height of label stack that can be contoured is not restricted and close contour tolerance can be maintained.
