PURPOSE:To enhance NOx reducing function and to enhance corrosion resistance by forming a metal material for reducing nitrogen oxide by coating the surface of a matrix metal with a film with thickness of 0.1-500mum containing chromium carbide. CONSTITUTION:Chromizing treatment or flame spraying treatment of chromium carbide is applied to the surface of a structural member such as a pipe, a rod or a plate composed of various steels, non-ferrous metals or an alloy thereof or the surface of a powdery or granular matrix metal to form a film with thickness of 0.1-500mum containing chromium carbide to obtain a metal material for reducing nitrogen oxide. The outermost layer of the film containing chromium carbide is formed from uniform chromium carbide (Cr3C2, Cr7C3, Cr23C6). Since this chromium carbide film is formed, corrosion resistance is enhanced and NOx reducing catalytic function can be provided. |
