PURPOSE: To provide a new and improved fin and tube assembly by incorporating and assembling a serpentine fin, which is clad with an aluminum braze cladding, to a tube having a coating of aluminum, and maintaining the assembling temperature for a time sufficient to achieve a brazed joint between the fin and the tube. CONSTITUTION: A tube 50 is flattened which is of ferrous material having a coating predominantly of aluminum. A serpentine fin 56 of aluminum and cladding is provided with aluminum braze cladding. The serpentine fin 56 is built into the tube 50 and assembled. The assembling temperature is raised to a level at which braze cladding is melted. This temperature is maintained for a period of time sufficient to achieve a brazed joint between the fin 56 and the tube 50. As a result, a new and improved power plant can be provided which is equipped with a steam-driven improved air-cooled condenser. |
