PURPOSE:To obtain a liquid crystal display element for color display, which is capable of clearly displaying a fine image without any color shift due to parallax, by low applied voltage. CONSTITUTION:On a transparent substrate 1, a colored polarized film 2 consisting of regular stripe patterns of red, green and blue, having fine width is formed, and on said film, a protective transparent thin film 3 and a transparent electrode 4 are formed in order. Also, picture element electrodes E11, E12... are provided so as to be opposed, by placing a liquid crystal layer 6 and orientation layers 5, 7. Since only the orientation layer and the liquid crystal layer exist between the electrodes, applied voltage can be lowered, also, since thin film transistors T11, T12 for a switch are provided so as to be connected to the picture element elec trodes E11, E12..., respectively, there is no crosstalk, and also, each color of each picture element electrode and the colored polarized film 2 are matched and placed, and a space between both of them is narrow, therefore, the clear color display which is small in parallax and has no color shift can be executed. |
