Date Jun. 29, 1989.A sideboard pivotably mounted relative to a vehicle floor is pivoted between a closed position and an open position by a sole actuating mechanism fixed to the vehicle adjacent one end of the board. The sideboard is locked in the closed position at both ends by a locking mechanism which includes a transmission rod which transmits locking and unlocking movements from the end of the sideboard adjacent the actuating mechanism to the opposite end.
