PURPOSE:To enhance the yield strength of an optical fiber cord to side pressure without deteriorating the flexibility by coating a filler wrapping optical fibers with a protective coat with a coil layer of metal or the like in-between. CONSTITUTION:A filler 2 of plastics or the like is arranged on optical fibers 1 along the longitudinal direction to wrap the fibers, and by laterally winding a metallic wire or a rigid plastic fiber around the filler 2, a coil layer 4 is formed. The layer 4 is then coated with a protective coat 6 made of PVC. By forming an optical fiber cord as mentioned above, the yield strength to side pressure can be enhanced without deteriorating the flexibility. By adhering the coat 6 to the layer 4 with an adhesive layer 5, the flexibility and yield strength can be maintained over a long term. |
