PURPOSE:To obtain the high strength calcium silicate formed body capable of machining similarly to timbers and usable as a building material by blending a calcareous raw material, a siliceous raw material having a specified compsn., heat-resistant resins and water in specified ratios, filling the mixture into a form, executing heating and bringing them into reaction with under pressure. CONSTITUTION:Respective components of a) a calcareous raw material (limemilk of which raw lime is digested in warm water of >= 80 deg.C is preferable), b) a siliceous raw material [crystalline silica (quartz in which particle size is regulated to <=10% residue on a sieve of 250 mesh is preferable) and amorphous silica (diatomaceous earth having <=50 mum particle size is preferable), c) fibers (in which >=20 wt.% is preferably formed from glass fibers) and d) heat-resistant resins (water emulsion of acrylic resins, acrylic-styrene copolymer resins, phenol resins or the like) are blended so that, in (a) and (b), the mole ratio of CaO/SiO2 is regulated to 0.75 to 1.00 and, in the raw material compositions, the wt. ratio of water/solid is regulated to 1.0 to 2.0 the wt. ratio of water/solid and the wt. ratio of amorphous silica/(b) lie in the range of a pentagon surrounded by points A, B, C, D and E in the figure and 2 to 10% (c) and 2 to 10% (d) are regulated. The mixture is filled into a form, is pressurized, is heated and is brought into reaction with, by which the high strength calcium silicate formed body can be obtd. |
