PURPOSE:To absorb a shock by plastic deformation of a rod member, by releasing the winding of the rod member wound on rollers from the rollers in order following the movement of a steering column in the axial direction. CONSTITUTION:When a shock is given to a steering column 2 and the steering column 2 moves in the axial direction, a rod member 20 wound on rollers 19 is pulled following its movement, and thereby, the rod member 20 is to be released from these rollers in order, simultaneously with the rotation of the rollers 19. In this case, the rod member 20 is plastic-deformed from the ring form when it has been wound on the rollers 19 to a straight line, and by the energy to be consumed for the plastic deformation, the shock is to be absorbed. |
