PURPOSE:To recognize kind of a signal received by a communication equipment by setting two kinds of operating data, giving one operating data when a picture signal is received and giving the other operating data to a receiver when an acoustic signal is received. CONSTITUTION:An identification circuit 4 identifies whether a call is a facsimile call or a voice call based on a signal sent from a caller station and identifies the input of a password and gives the result of identification to a control section 5. The control section 5 based on an output of the identification circuit 4 operates an automatic recording set in one's absence 6 in the case of the voice signal to record the voice of the caller. The control section 5 operates a facsimile equipment 8 in the case of a facsimile call to record a picture data onto, e.g. recording paper. A registration area or a save area or the like storing a display data to be sent to a pocket pager 21 are set to a memory 9 and a transfer destination telephone number to the pocket pager 21 is stored in a telephone number area.
