PURPOSE:To decrease reapplication times of a mold parting material by embedding Si3N4 ceramics which generate less thermal distortions, are highly mechanically strong and have good mold parting characteristic to the parts in a mold for casting where the mold parting material is vulnerable to deterioration and peeling. CONSTITUTION:A mold for casting of grid bodies for lead storage batteries consists of dies (a) made of cast iron, and investment dies (b), (c) made of Si3N4 ceramics. The mold is used after a mold parting material is coated on the surfaces engraved with grid bodies made of cast iron, and the application of the mold parting material on the Si3N4 surface is equally well. The similar mating dies are combined by matching the pin holes (g), and high temp. molten metal of a lead alloy is teemed through a sprue part (d), and is flowed through runners (e) into the grid body parts. |
