PURPOSE:To prevent fogging due to residual potential by detecting surface potential of a photosensitive body which received reflected light from a reference white board and comparing with a specified value, then eliminating fogging toner on the photosensitive body surface when the surface potential reaches the specified value and giving the information when it is not lowered below the specified value. CONSTITUTION:When the surface of the photosensitive body drum 9 is exposed by the reflected light from the white board WB, the potential of the exposed surface is detected by a sensor PS, the detected potential is compared with the specified value at a micro computer, and the surface potential (residue potential) reaches the specified value, since the residual toner of the photosensitive body 9 surface is eliminated at a cleaning means 23, a normal copied image can be obtained in the copying action thereafter. Further, even when the elimination of the toner is carried out at the cleaning means 23, if the surface potential is not lowered, that information is given by an informing means LD. Thus, abnormality in copied image due to fogging can be prevented. |
