PURPOSE: To provide an integrated light waveguide coupler to be operated for the optical wavelength from 1.2μm to 1.6μm by turning a lateral gap between waveguide lines to zero mutually over the length from 20μm to 800μm and branching the waveguide at both the ends of this mutual operating length. CONSTITUTION: The lateral gap between waveguides G1 and G2 at the integrated light waveguide directional coupler constituted by parallelly and adjacently arranging two pieces of same type waveguides G1 and G2 is turned to zero for the mutual length from 20μm to 800μm, desirably, from 250μm to 800μm and the waveguides G1 and G2 are branched at both the ends of this mutual operating length. This mutual operating length corresponds to representative coupling length for optical wavelength within the wavelength range from 1.2μm to 1.6/μm. In this case, the coupling length is half of a beat length, namely, half of wavelength of input vibrations between the waveguides. Thus, a wavelength guide type star coupler is obtained with the integrated photocoupler for the wavelength from 1.2μm to 1.6μm. |
