PURPOSE:To decode a character code whose code number is comparatively large such as alphanumerics and KANJI (Chinese character) by decoding a message by means of a low-order bit and the format of the character code whose code number is comparatively large when the high-order bit of the received message is a code showing the format of the character whose code number is comparatively large. CONSTITUTION:Numerals whose code number is the smallest are allocated to high-order four bits b1-bn in massage data. Especially, high-order four bits (0,1,1,1) are allocated as codes (*4) showing comparatively complicated alphanumerics and marks, and high-order four bit data (1,1,1,1) is allocated as codes (*B) showing complicated KANJI and marks, whose code number is the largest. Thus, the character codes whose code number is comparatively large such as alphanumerics and KANJI can be decoded by allocating the codes showing the alphanumerics and the marks to low-order seven bits and allocating the codes showing KANJI and the marks whose message is the most complicated to low-order 14 bits.
