Machine for the fusion bonding (welding) of flexible films edge to edge, especially for the manufacture of aerostatic-balloon envelopes

In order to fusion bond, edge to edge, two flexible films such as the panels of an aerostatic-balloon envelope, a machine is proposed which comprises a carriage (trolley) (10) equipped with two fusion-bonding assemblies (36, 38) facing each other and moving between two tables (42) supporting the films to be fusion bonded. Each fusion-bonding assembly enables a covering (overlap) strip (B1, B2) to be heated by means of a heating wheel (58) setting up a precise temperature gradient from one edge of the strip to the other. The strips are applied against the adjacent edges of the films, after the latter have been preheated.
