PURPOSE:To eliminate the need to remachine the surface of a rail electrode by installing to a flying object an armature which has conductivity and generates plasma based on electric current-induced melting and evaporation. CONSTITUTION:When a switch 7 is thrown in, electric discharge between upper and lower rail electrodes 1 takes place in a through hole 10. A flying object 5 discharged from a compressed gas discharging device move at high speed inside a space 8 of a hollow frame body 3. When an armature 4 comes to the through hole 10, electric current I flows to the armature 4. Then, the armature 4 is molten and evaporated by friction heat produced between the current I, the armature 4, and the rail electrodes 1, thereby generating plasma 11, which generates a magnetic field B. The magnetic field B exerts a large Lorentz fore F on the flying object 5 at the tip of the rail electrodes 1. The Lorentz force accelerates the speed of the flying object so that it may be discharged out of the hollow frame body 3. The flying object 5 which has flied out will get collided with a target, thereby eliminating the need to remachine the surface of the rail electrodes 1 by grinding. |
