PURPOSE: To perform infinitely variable transmission by drivingly connecting an intermediate shaft to a second epicyclic portion through a second driving means, a continuously variable speed mechanism, and selectively locking first and second epicyclic portions with a jaw clutch of a first driving means. CONSTITUTION: An infinitely variable transmission 10 drivingly connects an input shaft 12 with an epicyclic gear set 70 through a fixed ratio speed mechanism 50 comprised of a sprockets 52, 54, and a chain 56, or a carrier 72 with the output sprocket 54 through actuation of a jaw clutch 82, or lock-connects the carrier 72 with ring gear 76. Rotation of the input shaft 12 is transmitted to an intermediate shaft 16 through a continuously variable speed mechanism 20 consisting of variable pitch pulleys 22, 24 and a V-belt 26, then to a sun gear 74 of the epicyclic gear set 70, and then to an output shaft 14 according to the actuation of the jaw clutch 82. Thus, infinitely variable transmission can be performed. |
