PURPOSE: To improve running behavior of a vehicle by limiting a link point between a connecting bar and an electric motor driving crank in a turning region opposite against a turning center of the crank, in a rear wheel steering device for an automobile. CONSTITUTION: A crank disk 22 turns clockwise or counterclockwise via a reduction gear 30 with rotation of a reverse motor 13, a link point 25 between a connecting bar 20 and a crank disk 22 turns only in a turning region opposite against a crank turning point 21 of a vertical axis line 26, a driving rod 11 is slid and rear wheels are steered through a link point 24 of a slider crank driving portion 12. Because this reduction gear 30 has not self locking function, in failure of the electric motor 13 or others, a projecting stopper 33 of the driving rod 11 is locked directly by a lock mechanism to prevent steering behavior from becoming unstable. Thus, running behavior of an automobile is improved, and load on on-board supply power can be reduced. |
