PURPOSE: To insert a control rod to a control rod channel possible to have a deviation of center by providing a ball part that has a segment having a room for housing a neutron absorption material and cooperates with a socket part corresponding to an adjacent segment and a socket part. CONSTITUTION: Segments 24 and 24' have a first edge 28 and a second edge 30. The segments 24 and 24' have a hollow cylindrical sleeve 32 made of graphite or carbon- carbon compound material. An opening 34 for receiving a neutron absorption material 38 is provided at the first edge 36 of the sleeve 32, and the material 38 is retained in a room 40 of the sleeve 32. A hole 44 in a screw shaft direction and a surface 46 of an outer screw are provided at a second edge 42 of the sleeve 32, and a circular support post 48 is arranged in the axial direction in the sleeve 32. The post 48 has a screw shaft 56 at one edge 54 and is screwed into the hole 44 and hence clamps the post 48 into the sleeve 32. A ball part 52 is provided at the other edge of the post 48. A collar 60 is engaged to the surface 46 with the outer screw of the sleeve 32 by a screw and has a socket part 64. The socket part 64 has a socket lip 66, contacts a ball surface part 68 of the ball part 52 of a segment 24', and is engaged slidably.
