Cooling device for the sealing arrangement between the hood and base in a cupola furnace in which the sealing ring (5) is in a dove-tail groove (4) of a steel ring (3) welded into the base (1). The ring is surrounded on three sides by a cooling water canal (2). USE/ADVANTAGE - Furnaces for heat treating, esp. annealing, workpieces under protective atmos. By intensively cooling the silicone sealing ring, the working life of the plant is increased.
