Regenerating hardened PVC roofing strips - by application of isopropanol soln. of plasticiser, pref. di:octyl phthalate

PVC roofing strips on gravelled flat roofs or unloaded roofs, hardened by ageing, are regenerated by application to the untreated roof of an isopropanol soln. of a plasticiser, pref. dioctyl phthalate (DOP). The soln. contains 90 pts. of DOP and 10 pts. of isopropanol (PA), or 50-70 (60) pts. of DOP, 5-10 (7) pts. of IPA, 0.1-2 (0.5) pts. of a UV absorber, 1-5 (3) pts. of an epoxy plasticiser, 1-5 (2.5) pts. of a stabiliser, and 0.1-2.0 (1) pts. of a biocide. Opt. it may contain a phosphate plasticiser, pref. 10-30 (20) pts.. ADVANTAGE - Removal of the gravel, cleaning of the roof, and shrinkage are avoided. The stability to heat and UV is restored.
