The pulse generator has a disc (1) that is rotated about an axis (2). Located adjacent to the disc is a magnetic field sensor (3), e.g. a reed switch sensor. Positioned between the sensor and the edge of the disc is a plate (5) of iron. As the plate is moved further into the gap between the sensor and disc, the magnetic field varies to adjust the operating point of the reed switch. ADVANTAGE - Allows compensation of magnetic field.
