Metal bars are stored in a rack formed by two rows of uprights with each row fixed to upper and lower longitudinal members and these longitudinal members are connected by cross-members. Each upright (C) has a number of horizontal brackets (E) spaced one above another and projecting inwards. The bar (E) is placed on hinged flaps (D) mounted on a hoist (A). The hoist raises the bar (E) to the height of the bracket on which the bar is to be stored. One or other of the flaps (D) is swung upwards so that the bar (E) rolls onto the bracket (B). The rack mechanism is controlled from a control panel. USE - Storage of metal bars.
