A gas purifying adsorber has one or more adsorbent beds in which flowable adsorbent is retained between gas-permeable support walls, the novelty being that temp.-induced adsorbent wear is avoided by provision of gas-permeable compressible material between the adsorbent and one of the support walls. ADVANTAGE - Adsorbent abrasion, caused by thermal expansion and contraction, is avoided in a simple manner and conventional support walls can be used.
