PURPOSE: To avert the danger of starch dust and explosion and contamination with bacteria accompanying a starch molding operation by using a porous polymer as a substitute for the starch to be used for the conventional starch molds in production of products exclusive of cast food or food. CONSTITUTION: Molten or fluid product stock is poured into the molds consisting of the porous polymers. The fluid product stock is then gelatinized or solidified and moisture is absorbed into the porous polymers during this time. Molded goods are then taken out. The fluid product stock usually contg. about 5 to 85% moisture or solvent is used. The products are used for materials for confectionery, drugs, cosmetics, etc. The porous polymer are hydrophilic and have an average pore size of preferably 0.8 to 2000μm. Such polymers include, for example, high-density polyethylene, polypropylene, polytetrafluoroethylene, ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, etc. |
