The ceramic tile (1) has a recess (4) formed in its outer face. This recess (4) receives an insert (7) to which a decorative element (2) or other fitting may be attached. The outer surface of the insert (7) and the abutting surface of the decorative element (2) or fitting together form a Velcro (RTM) type fixing. The file side of the insert (7) has a mushroom shaped contour and the recess (4) in the tile has a corresponding contour.
