FRESHNESS PRESERVATIVE AGENT

PURPOSE:To obtain the title agent easily changeable in its composition according to the amount of coffee by incorporating a liquid composition comprising an aqueous solution containing both ascorbic acid and a ferrous compound with a powder composition comprising a dispersant like silicon dioxide and an alkaline earth metal hydroxide. CONSTITUTION:The objective agent can be obtained by incorporating (A) a liquid composition comprising an aqueous solution containing (1) ascorbic acid or its salt and (2) a ferrous compound with (B) a powder composition comprising (3) a dispersant containing silicon dioxide and/or calcium silicate and (4) a powdery or granular alkaline earth metal hydroxide. It is preferable that the weight ratio of the component 1 to the component 2 be ca.2: 1 and the component 4 account for >=40wt.% of the whole agent. Furthermore, when the component 3 is incorporated with a water-absorptive resin, the water produced by reaction or contained in the component A will be prevented from percolating from the package. thus making the present agent safe and easy to use.
