Upgrading plant, for removal of harmful substances from air or gas stream has a housing contg. an adsorbent, through which the gas stream to be cleaned flows at a large flow rate, alternating with a desorbing gas stream at a low flow rate. The plant has two ducts for the two gas streams at a crossing point and the housing can be shut off from the ducts by closures operating in pairs. The adsorbent in the housing is thereby alternately subjected to flow of one of the two gas streams.
