Membrane position monitor for brake servo - has telescopic sensor coaxial in vacuum connection valve

The position of the membrane is monitored to determine the amount of travel of the brake pedal. The spring loaded sensor is mounted centrally in the connection valve (9) which connects the vacuum line to the servo housing. The telescopic sensor (11) is linked to a position monitor (10), e.g. a resistive track to monitor membrane movements. The sensor has a central section (18) with a stiff spring (19) and a second section with a weaker spring (17). The valve can be mounted in any position in the rear of the servo housing. The vacuum connections are via ducts (14) around the central sensor. ADVANTAGE - Universal fitting; requires only one mounting hole in servo housing.
