Vehicle door stay consists of a holding strap (4) rigidly connected at one end to a bearing bush (13) which itself is hinged (5) to a support (21) by a hinge pin (18). The support (21) has bored holes to accept the hinge pin (18) and is rigidly fastened to a vehicle pillar. The other end of the strap (4) has several recesses into which a spring loaded roller moves to hold the door open in a given position. An intermediate thin-walled split bush (15) has an internal dia. slightly less than the hinge pin (18) and is located between the bolt (18) and the bearing bush (13). The split bush (15) has a PTFE coated inner surface. The space between the intermediate bush (15) and the bearing bush (13) is filled with an EPDM elastomer. USE/ADVANTAGE - The invention is used in a door stay for vehicles, provides a better fit between the bolt and the bearing bush, giving less play, noise reduction and easier door operation.
