Yacht with device to counteract heeling over - which is formed by hinged flaps fitted in openings in keel
摘要
The device which automatically counteracts the tendency of a yacht to heel over under the force of the wind. The yacht is fitted witha keel (1) with a rectangular opening (2) and flaps (3) which. can be rotated about vertical axes which are fitted in these openings. The spindles of the flaps are connected to a leverr which has a weight fitted to its outer end. When the yacht heels over this weight causes the lever to rotate and actuate the flaps. The flaps are then inclined to the plane of the keel and the flow of water over the keel exerts a force on the flaps which tends to restore the yacht to the upright position. USE - Yacht with keel designed to resist heeling action in wind.
