The circuit has a pressure vessel formed by a crank housing (1) with the crank rotated via a drive motor and the crankshaft (5) used to displace a piston (4) within a cylinder (3). The path of movement of the piston (4) is offset eccentrically to the side of the crankshaft (2), for obtaining an asymatrical piston movement, to allow slow expansion and rapid compression with reduced heat losses. Pref. the drive motor is mounted on the outside of the crank housing (1). The working fluid for the heat pump or refrigeration circuit pref. comprises dry air and the piston (4) is pref. made of a material with poor heat conduction with a high heat conduction coating (6) on the side facing the working space.
