PURPOSE:To control the temperature of a long-size recording head uniformly and stably, stabilize an ink delivery state, and improve the stability of a recording image by heating and cooling a recording head through a heat pipe. CONSTITUTION:The temperature of a support member 13 is detected by a temperature sensor 10. When the detected temperature is lower than a predetermined temperature, e.g. 50 deg.C, which must be kept at the time of recording, a controller 11 turns ON a heater 7 and a rising heater 12 to heat the support member 13 through a heat pipe 5. At this time, the adhesive surface between the heat pipe 5 and the support member 13 becomes a condensation part wherein an operative fluid in the heat pipe 5 is liquefied. The operative fluid evaporated by a heat from the heaters 7 and 12 uniformly spreads, condensates, and uniformly releases a latent heat. Therefore, the support member 13 is subjected to a uniform heat flux to be uniformly and rapidly increased in temperature. If the detected temperature is discrepant from the specified temperature by more than an allowable value, the controller 11 turns ON a fan 9 to feed an air to fins 6 to start releasing of heat from a recording heat 1 through the heat pipe 5. |
