In order to improve the mobility of a physically disabled individual the wheelchair is intended for the disabled. In the known foldable wheelchairs gripping of the two lateral frame parts of the folded wheelchair with one hand is made more difficult or even impossible by the members of the folding kinematics and by the distance apart of the lateral frame parts. The foot part with mountings can only be detached from the wheelchair in several parts. A small number of wheelchair manipulations on folding and one-handed operation on folding are required. These requirements are met by the wheelchair according to the invention. The folded width achieved permits gripping of the two lateral frame parts at the front with one hand. Integration of the foot part mounting in the folding kinematics reduces the manipulations necessary for folding of the wheelchair, and the folding kinematics no longer projects from the frame contour. Folding is carried out from the direction in which the foot part and the seat shell are removed. The foldable wheelchair requires little stowing space in a transport vehicle.
